Trend charts

I've a question regarding NCover Trends. Why some of the charts (of trends) are only dots while some of them are connected dots? What is the difference?

each dot represents a coverage execution that was added to the trend file. dots are unconnected when an execution is 'missing', and connected when the executions happened one after the other.
